The regular width needle will punch a minimum of 2 strands of worsted weight yarn, or any other material that will smoothly pass through the needle, up to a 1/4" piece of cut wool fabric.
The fine width needle can be used with a single strand of worsted weight yarn, or a 1/8" strip of wool (a 3 cut)
